How do you solve the Fahlbtharz boiler puzzle in Skyrim? ›

The puzzle is solved when all twenty steam meters are powered, and none are overpowered. This can be achieved by shooting resonators #1, #2, and #5, numbered 1-6 from left to right as you face them.

To open the first locked gate, go to the console with two rows of five buttons. The second buttom from the right on the bottom row opens the gate. Proceed on through the dor and activate the mechanism by shooting it with a bow, or a destruction spell such as Fireball.

Activate the Boilers[edit]

Head up the ramp to the main control pedestals. Pick up one of the original cubes already in the pedestals and head down to the lower platform. Place the remaining four cubes in the boiler pedestals to start the boiler.

Once entering the Grand Hall, there are a couple albino spiders, an oil spider, and two more Ballistas. After clearing those, there are two leveled Dwarven Centurions (up to Masters) Killing them allows the retrieval of the Dynamo Cores to open the last door.

The correct puzzle pillar positions can be found on the back of the stones the pillars are standing in front of. One symbol is still attached to its stone, the other two have fallen onto the ground. The correct selections are Whale, Hawk, Snake (from left to right if standing by the lever, as shown in the picture).
