» pcyco13 | '48 22nd series door latch parts | #142871 | ||
---|---|---|---|---|
Just can't stay away | A fellow Packardite would like to know how to reassemble a '48 door latch assembly. He sent me this picture of the parts. Anyone have any insight on this? I still have to look at my '48s door latch, but I figured I'd put this picture out there to see if anyone can help. Thanks and a huge hat tip to all! Home away from home | Cant remember who said it -Got a friend in Wash state with an 1100 that had orig green when he got it and it had the green on the caps. Trouble is most of the cars were black or dark so its hard to nail down this stuff in Black & White photos. There is a period KODACHROME ad photo of a '33 12 CR showing the cap rings in yellow. Home away from home | Interesting photo of the '36 Super Eight. Even the bumper insert is body color. (Yes, I know the link says 1935, but pretty sure it's a '36.) Posted on: 2015/10/19 9:20 | |||

Home away from home | I guess the "Packard overpass" is gone by now, or at least the lettering. Posted on: 2015/10/19 9:57 | |||

Garrett Meadows | The difference in Parkard print ads and those of Pierce Arrow | #142878 | ||
---|---|---|---|---|
Home away from home | Until I read about it, I didn't realize that the early Pierce Arrow print ads (a) had little to no information about the featured car, and (b) had the car image subordinate to the individuals. Often the car would be in the background or even partially obscured. Interesting marketing strategy. as always PS: Look at the attached pic for an example of what I'm talking about. Joseph Earl | Re: 1948 Super Eight Resurrection | #142879 | ||

Home away from home | I'm going to throw this question out there. Now that I'm able to drive the 48 for more than two miles, I seem to be having a problem starting. I've kept the new battery I bought about six months ago on a 6v Battery Tender Junior, and it at times, doesn't have the juice to get me going again after driving and stopping for a few minutes. The battery shows 6.25v, and will start the car when cold. I did discover the water in the battery low, one time since I bought it and had it on the Tender, apparently it had evaporated during the hot summer months of sitting in my shop. Do you think I killed a cell by letting the water get low? I tested it with a specific gravity tester,and it read around 1.260, which was in the bottom end of the good range. The starter tested fine when I bought the car, an I have all new correct size cables. Posted on: 2015/10/19 10:40 | |||

JWL | Sunday Drive | #142880 | ||
---|---|---|---|---|
Home away from home | My daughter volunteered me and the 115C to participate in a neighborhood parade on Sunday. It was a good reason to get the Packard out of the garage, where it had set idle for a few weeks. Checked fluids, aired tires, and polished it up a bit. It is amazing how dirty the car gets just sitting in the garage. The Hyde Park neighborhood association organizes this parade every year near Halloween and calls it the "Firehouse Festival". It is a relatively small event, but it seems the whole neighborhood turned out to participate. I drove the director of the Elizabeth Ney Museum along with his two children and one of my grandsons and his friend. The kids just love riding in the rumble seat. The car received many compliments and it was the hit of the parade, well maybe the fire engine got a little more. A beautiful day to be out in the Packard.
