A new phase in Iori’s life begins when he moves to the coastal town of Izu to study with his uncle, who runs a surf shop called Grand Blue. Iori is already full of anticipation and has quite precise ideas of what his new student life should look like; namely quiet, with lots of new friends and especially pretty girls.

Arriving at Grand Blue, however, Iori’s idea of a perfect student time quickly begins to crumble when he comes across a drunken group of more or less naked students who almost force him into joining their excessive drinking. Without further ado, Iori is also standing in Grand Blue in only his pants and completely drunk and has quickly become the focus of the group after beating several of them in a drinking contest. At just this inopportune moment, his cousin Chisa arrives home and punishes Iori with her complete disregard – not a good start for Iori!

Für Iori beginnt ein neuer Lebensabschnitt, als er zum Studieren zu seinem Onkel in die Küstenstadt Izu zieht, der dort einen Surfer-Shop namens Grand Blue betreibt. Iori ist bereits voller Vorfreude und hat schon recht genaue Vorstellungen davon, wie sein neues Studentenleben auszusehen hat; nämlich ruhig, mit vielen neuen Freunden und insbesondere hübschen Mädchen.

Im Grand Blue angekommen beginnt Ioris Vorstellung einer perfekten Studentenzeit allerdings schnell zu bröckeln, als er auf eine betrunkene Gruppe mehr oder weniger nackter Studenten stößt, die ihn direkt dazu nötigen, sich ihrem exzessiven Trinken anzuschließen. Kurzerhand steht auch Iori nur in Unterhose und völlig betrunken im Grand Blue und ist rasch zum Mittelpunkt der Gruppe geworden, nachdem er mehrere von ihnen beim Wetttrinken geschlagen hat. In genau diesem ungünstigen Moment kommt seine Cousine Chisa nach Hause und straft Iori mit ihrer völligen Missachtung – kein guter Start für Iori!

Un nouveau chapitre de la vie d’Iori Kitahara commence lorsqu’il s’installe dans la ville côtière d’Izu pour étudier. Il y vit avec son oncle, qui dirige le magasin de surf Grand Blue à Izu. Iori est déjà plein d’impatience et a une idée assez précise de ce à quoi devrait ressembler sa nouvelle vie d’étudiant, à savoir tranquille, avec beaucoup de nouveaux amis et surtout de jolies filles.

Mais en arrivant à Grand Blue, l’idée qu’Iori se fait d’un temps d’étude parfait commence rapidement à s’effondrer lorsqu’il rencontre un groupe d’étudiants ivres plus ou moins nus qui le contraignent à les rejoindre dans leur consommation excessive d’alcool. Sans plus tarder, Iori se trouve également dans le Grand Bleu, vêtu seulement de ses sous-vêtements et complètement ivre, et est rapidement devenu le centre d’attention du groupe après avoir battu plusieurs d’entre eux dans un concours de de buvette. C’est à ce moment inopportun, que sa cousine Chisa Kotegawa arrive à la maison et punit Iori de son mépris total. Pas un bon début pour Iori !

Per Iori Kitahara inizia una nuova vita quando per motivi di studio si trasferisce nella città costiera di Izu. Durante questo periodo vive da suo zio che gestisce il Surfer Shop Grand Blue in Izu. Iori non vede l’ora e ha già le idee abbastanza chiare come condurre la sua vita da studente, cioè in modo tranquillo con tanti e nuovi amici e naturalmente belle ragazze.

Arrivato al Grand Blue, la sua visione della sua vita da studente comincia a vacillare, quando s’imbatte in un gruppo di studenti ubriachi e pressoché nudi, che lo vogliono portare con sé nelle loro scorribande da ubriachi. Poco dopo anche Iori si ritrova in mutande completamente ubriaco nel Grand Blue e diventa presto il centro del gruppo dopo che ha battuto più di uno nelle gare di bevute. Esattamente in questo momento, torna a casa sua cugina Chisa Kotegawa e punisce Iori con il suo totale disprezzo. Non è certo un buon inizio per Iori!
