Notes[]

  • This was originally going to air in the US on the Adult Swim iteration of Toonami. However due to the gratuitous nudity of the show it got refused.[1] It would have required vast amounts of editing before it was suitable enough to meet broadcasting standards. Due to this, the English dub went straight to DVD and Blu-ray.
  • This is the first and so-far only Lupin III animated media to be directed and written by women.
  • The original website was fujiko.tv however the page has since been removed. A partial archive can be found here but the broadcast page was not backed up.
  • This is the first Lupin III television series to feature Kanichi Kurita as Lupin III, Miyuki Sawashiro as Fujiko Mine, Daisuke Namikawa as Goemon Ishikawa XIII and Kōichi Yamadera as Inspector Zenigata.
  • The "Koikeverse" series & movies follow the manga's in character personalities & art closely & have no shared continuity with parts 1-5. However, Part 5 references the events of the series as well as all the others. There is no consensus as to whether it's a prequel or an alternate continuity.
  • The title comes from a line said in Part 1 Episode 5 by Sandayu Momochi.
