"These turtles have been through a lot," said New England Aquarium President and CEO Vikki Spruill. "We rescued 394 turtles this year, and that's just a remarkable thing."

Iconic Cape Cod summer house sells for $2M
After years of discussions, Cape Cod Modern House Trust bought Marcel Breuer's iconic four-bedroom house on Black Pond Road in Wellfleet from the legendary architect's son, Tamas, for $2 million, according to a deed recorded with the Barnstable County Registry of Deeds on July 24. The trust had raised around $1.3 million and secured a pre-approved bank loan to cover the remaining balance of the asking price.
This is a is a "big step" for the trust, said Peter McMahon, who founded it in 2007.
"We haven't owned a building before. We have restored and managed four buildings, but they're all owned by the Cape Cod National Seashore. This was a big deal, we raised over $2 million to actually purchase it," said McMahon. The mission to save historic buildings is important "not just as objects but as a window into people's values and how they lived and what was important to them," he said.
Breuer was a Hungarian-German architect and furniture designer known for his use of bent, tubular steel to create his furniture. He spent summers at the house from 1949 until he died in 1981 at 79. Breuer's ashes, along with his wife Connie's, and her sister's and husband's ashes, are buried under a stone slab on the property.
